Every actor here deserves to be on the cover.
But damn it, Jake Gyllenhaal, must you look THAT good?!

Posting these rather late, but hey I've been busy with work and all. :)
Surprisingly bohemian chic this season whilst staying true to its Ralph Lauren's vision and classy American feel:
And Marc Jacobs: cleaner, longer, modern minimalist yet feminine throughout.

This past summer, L.A-based model Roma Charlene Perrier was invited through a friend to join Sonnet Global Face of the World competition on facebook. She registered only to find herself being chosen as the face of the ad campaign for Boxeight Studios and Sonnet Models two months later. It was perfect timing as she just decided to pursue modeling again after taking a break from the industry to finish college in San Diego.
Apart from being on the hot list amongst L.A photographers, the Parisian beauty has been gaining high number of votes on Sonnet Models, with a few of her modelling pictures ranked at the top 5%. F.Y.I, members of Sonnet Models vote for one another on the facebook application (one can register on Sonnet to vote only, if not interested in joining the competition as a model.)
We are wishing Roma Perrier much continued success in her modeling career! Sonnet Models has been instrumental in giving Roma her first global exposure in the modeling industry and we at Minxdeluxe are hoping that she will be amongst the top contenders of the competition. For those of you who don't know, Sonnet Models is partnered with 14 modeling agencies worldwide, from New Zealand to Denmark. These agencies take notice on the well-ranked registered models on Sonnet, truly giving them opportunities to be discovered and possibly signed. Winners of the competition will be also be rewarded a photo shoot in Los Angeles by top fashion photographer Peter Gurnz.

Loving the sexy and romantic Sicilian designs for the Dolce&Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 collection!
From WWD: The designers called the show “Heritage,” and filled it with their signatures, laced with a dose of tango. “Siciliano, Latino — they’re the same,” Gabbana said.

I was lucky enough to be invited by Ted Baker London VIP services to review the Fall 2009 collection. Whilst in the past Ted Baker had been more known for its men's wear, this season's women's wear collection is strong and I would have loved to own the whole entire collection and not shopped until next Spring.
For those of you who don't know, Ted Baker in Beverly Hills offers VIP Shopping services for celebrities and special clients. Joni Kilmurry is the lovely stylist who handles all that and if you see her in person, you can right away tell that she is good at what she does. Always stylish and gorgeous, she showed me the women's collection with much enthusiasm and gushed over what I deemed to be my favourite pieces as "classic, timeless pieces." She was right.
I asked Joni what is the best-selling item so far from the new collection and she pointed out that the accessories line, from big hobos and contemporary, versatile clutches are always popular and foot traffic to the store itself finds these bags flying off the shelves.
If you were in for a fashion treat at affordable prices, go check Ted Baker London.

Proenza Schouler did not fail to impress. For its Spring 2010 collection, a young, cool and hip in-the-crowd feel is present throughout the kind of women who would be seen wearing the pieces. Sporty-chic is effortlessly achieved through nonchalant track jacket on a sack dress paired with tailored blazer. Non-hippie tie dyes, liberal dosage of royal blue (soothing to my affinity-for-azure eyes), silky bra bodices paired with micro ruffles. Delish.
Backstage, Lazaro Hennandez told Nicole Phelps of Style.com, "We wanted something young, something that felt fresh, so we looked to surfing and skating, the things we grew up on." Stay young, please!
Here are my minx picks from the collection. Which one's your favourite?

From http://www.pointclickhome.com/celebrity_interiors/articles/home_john_mayer :
“After I finally figured out how to behave, and how to dress, I wanted to get the next thing—my apartment—right,” says John Mayer, the 31-year-old pop wunderkind turned guitar hero. “It’s the last piece of the style puzzle.”
Call it a quarter-life crisis, but Mayer wanted to put down roots. “A year ago, it never would have been right for me. But I’ve changed. I’m confident I’ve earned the happiness a real home base brings,” says the 15-time Grammy nominee, who picked up the first of seven statuettes at age 25, while wearing a Giorgio Armani suit. It was no coincidence. The Italian fashion designer and the American rock star share a mutual admiration. “If my apartment could make me feel the way I do in Mr. Armani’s suits, life would be really wonderful,” Mayer recalls thinking when he bought a 2,500-square-foot spread in New York City’s SoHo. Armani agreed to help. “I wanted to create a sophisticated environment for John,” the fashion icon says, “one that will bring as much pleasure to him as his music brings to us.”
The apartment is strong yet not intimidating, like the self-effacing Mayer himself. “You should have a picture of yourself as a kid in your home,” he says, “so that you remember where you came from.” His childhood snapshot sits on a chest of drawers in his bedroom. The faded photo is upstaged by a beloved collection of art depicting musical idols such as Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix, whose rendering in graphite greets Mayer the moment he walks in the door. “Most people think he just lit things on fire, but the beauty of his music got lost in the rock-god folklore,” says Mayer, who knows a little bit about being misunderstood himself. “It’s intentional that there’s not a lot of music gear here. I can be a person, not a musician, in this apartment.”

Here are some of Minx picks from the collection. Liking the African-reminiscent prints, patterns, agreeable 80's hues: no neon, phew! Overall, cool retro is here. Blue and stripes are still ubiquitous, and the hip thing to sport, according to Marc by Marc Jacobs, leaning towards turqoise throughout the collection. Metallic bags are here to stay. Hooray.

The new Christian Louboutin store on Robertson Boulevard is set to open next week! In conjunction to the special event, the shoe designer created "Psychologic", loosely based on Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho starring Louboutin's goddaughter, Elisa Sednaoui as Janet Leigh.

After the shock of Michael Jackson's death, the last thing we were anticipating was another trembling news of another premature death of someone we may not personally know, but whose work in music we've been widely exposed to and appreciate deeply.
There's been a lot of grief expressed in the L.A DJ community, especially from those who are close to him. Chris Holmes wrote the following on his blog, Ashtar Command. The original post can be found here.
R.I.P DJ AM.
It's hard to come up with words to memorialize DJ AM. He glowed, and embraced life with a passion that was apparent to everyone he encountered. He was so respectful, supportive, kind hearted and encouraging of his fellow artists and DJs.
In a town that is famous for insincerity and gladhanding, I have never heard a single negative word uttered about Adam.
He loved music with the innocence of a child and that joy was contagious. He was an ambassador and host for the city of Los Angeles. Whenever anyone was in town he would invite them to his house for dinner and a screening. He was someone who grew up in LA, and knew the history of every street corner, every bar or club that had come and gone over the years. He could talk to you with the same depth of knowledge and joy about the newest Daft Punk remix as easily as he could about an old psych track, or house classic, or obscure punk rock jam.
He was technically one of the greatest DJs I've ever seen. I was in awe of his talent, and the ease that flowed out of him behind his laptop and serato mixer. He was always excited to show you some new little trick he had came up with, or some secret feature that they had added to serato as his request. He inspired us.
He was generous to a fault. I remember one year at Steve Aoki's birthday at the Cinespace, he gave Steve a brand new macbook filled with thousands of his favorite songs as a birthday present. While other friends were giving Steve hugs and high fives, Adam had given him a piece of his soul.
He will be missed dearly by all not only for the obvious reasons, but for the little things as well; someone you could always have an intelligent conversation with at a crowded bar, someone who would always save you a space at the table, someone who would always ask what you have been up to before ever talking about himself.
He made his fellow djs feel like it was all worthwhile. You don't dj and remix for the people in front of the turntables, you do it for the ones like Adam, the ones that make you care, make you want to be better, and remind you that you are never alone.
We love him, and will miss him dearly. His joy will always guide me whenever I stand behind two turntables at a club.

Chris Holmes
